Brief Description Of Services :

PFLAG Gillette is the local chapter of PFLAG National, the first and largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating, and advocating for LGBTQ+ people and their families. PFLAG’s network of hundreds of chapters and more than 325,000 members and supporters create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them.

PFLAG Gillette was founded in 2014. Our mission is to build on a foundation of loving families united with LGBTQ+ people and allies who support one another and to educate ourselves and our communities to speak up as advocates until all hearts and minds respect, value, and affirm LGBTQ people.  We serve the local community in three ways.  First, we offer support and friendship through monthly get-togethers.  There are two ways to meet people in PFLAG.  Our support group meets on the third Wednesday of every month in person and online.  And we offer a social activity or educational program monthly.  Secondly, we provide education through

programs that speak to the issues affecting our LGBTQ+ loved ones and friends.  These are as diverse as having a trans and nonbinary speaker panel, to a guided discussion on pronouns, to information on PrEP, and the treatment of HIV/AIDS by Public Health nurses.  Lastly, the local chapter provides advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community by contacting local, state and federal lawmakers about legislation, and one-on-one conversations with people
